What is Scrapbooking?
The concept of scrapbooking isn't a new one, it originated in the 1840's to describe keepsake books, filled with writings and mementoes. Many of us filled scrapbooks as a child with photos and newspapers clippings, and decorated the pages by hand.
The scrapbooking phenomenon that is now sweeping the world is a lot more sophisticated, helped along by digital technology, and the advances in home computers and printers available to almost everyone. It is still basically a decorated photo album, but also acts as a record where attention is taken to the description of the event, and keeping a common style, colour or theme running through selected pages. It has become a serious hobby for many, with the resulting albums designed to be passed down to future generations.
There are now many dedicated stores, websites and guide books for scrapbooking.
Traditionally scrapbookers have used photos, cardstock, stickers and painted symbols etc to cut, stick and glue the elements of the page together. Now, inkjet printers bring new life to this method.
